Hier wird nun der Krawattenknoten an den Fußgelenken appliziert. Ich finde es am bequemsten, wenn einerseits die Schlaufe eng genug ist, um nicht über den Knöchel herunterzurutschen, andererseits aber nicht zu stramm für Bewegungen ist (mehr lose Kette mag anfangs komfortabler erscheinen, aber nur solange die Kette sich nicht am Knöchel verhakt...). Das rechte Foto zeigt gemäßigten Zug auf der Kette.
This is now the necktie knot applied to the ankles. It turns out to be most comfortable for me to have it tight enough so the loop does not slip over the ankles, but resting snug above it, but still leaving enough room for movements and not squeezing the foot at all (looser may appear more comfortable first, but only as long as the chain has not caught on the ankle acting as a hook...). On the right the chain is pulled moderately.
Und nun steht oder sitzt man nun einfach in der Ecke herum. Wird das nicht etwas langweilig mit der Zeit? Schon möglich, aber wir kommen gleich zu etwas komplexeren Gebilden.
And now one is just standing or sitting in the corner. Doesn't this get boring after a little while? Perhaps, but we are going to more complex configurations below.
Diese Kombination verwendet sechs Krawattenknoten und ein
Vorhängeschloß. Auf dem Foto sind die Kettenstücke
ein wenig kurz. Wenn man aufrecht stehen möchte, wird das
Ganze etwas stramm, aber es überzeugt einen doch, daß
man um der Bequemlichkeit willen die
Arme und Beine eng beieinanderhält.
This is a combination using six necktie knots and a padlock.
The photos above show the situation when the chain pieces being used are a
little bit short. When attempting to standing upright as on the right
it becomes somewhat tight. However, it does convince
one to better keep arms and legs really close together for comfort reasons.
Ob man es glaubt oder nicht, der Hauptgrund für den Gürtel
ist Bequemlichkeit, weil Fußketten ab einer gewissen Länge
auf dem Boden schleifen, Krach machen und Dreck aufsammeln.
Die mittlere Kette hebt die Ketten zu den Knöcheln an
und macht somit das Laufen spürbar bequemer.
The main reason to include a belt here is for convenience, believe it or not. Foot chains above a certain length tend to drag on the floor, making noise and collecting dirt. Thus the middle chain lifts the chain part between the ankles off the floor and makes for somewhat more comforatable walking.
Auf dem zweiten Foto von links ist kein Vorhängeschloß in Gebrauch, ein Krawattenknoten verbindet die beiden Ketten. Dann habe ich eine weitere Kette angebracht, welche aus dem Bild herausgeht. Wenn diese sicher befestigt ist, kann ich herumlaufen, allerdings nur noch reichweitenlimitiert. Wenn das andere Kettenende für mich außer Reichweite ist, muß ich eigentlich noch erwähnen, daß ich dann den Kettenschmuck zu tragen und an Ort und Stelle zu bleiben habe?
On the photo to the near left there is no padlock, but another necktie
knot joining the two chains. Then I attached another length of chain
which runs out of the photo. Connected securely somewhere I am still
comfortable in walking around, but with a limited range now.
Needless to say, with the far end of this chain out of my immediate control
I have to wear this metal decoration and stay in place.
Nach all diesen Ausführungen möchte man die Ketten so weit unten wie möglich haben, ohne daß sie den Boden berühren. Ich bin mir nicht ganz sicher, ob das wirlich absolut sicher ist, aber ich kann eine direkt unter dem Knie angebrachte Kettenschlaufe nicht abstreifen. Der Haken hier: ich muß den richtigen Durchmesser exakt treffen. Ein Kettenglied weniger, und es ist arg unbequem, ein Kettenglied mehr, und ich kann es abstreifen.
After all this perhaps you like to keep the chains all way down, but still off the floor. I am not totally sure about the security, but it appears to me that I cannot slip off a loop that I place just below the knee. The catch with this one: I have to get the circumference just right, one link less means uncomfortably constricting, and with one link more I can slip it off.

Anyway, the way the knee loop is implemented here does not compromise the overall security. Even in case I could slip them off the padlock still reliably secures the ankle loops. Anyway, it is nice walking, but no speeding.
