Wenn man kräftig zieht wie auf dem rechten Foto (der Knoten sollte natürlich richtigherum sein), dann verschiebt sich die Kette nur minimal.

Hier ist nun ein Vorschlag einer sicheren Anwendung.

Im wesentlichen geht es um gleichzeitige Sicherheit und Komfort ohne einen einfachen Weg, das Schloß zu picken. Die Schlaufen sollen eng aber komfortabel anliegen. Weiterhin sollte das Vorhängeschloß von hoher Qualität sein.
Essentially it is about both security and comfort at the same time without too easy a way to pick the lock. The loops should be snug, but still comfortable and not too tight around wrists or ankles. Then it is important that the padlock is sufficiently tamper proof.
Im Gegensatz zu Gelenkhandschellen sollte diese Anordnung nicht zu restriktiv sein, aber gleichzeitig eine Verzierung bereitstellen, welche man nicht so einfach loswird.
Unlike hinged handcuffs, this assembly should not restrict too much, but at the same time providing some adornment which is not easily stripped off.
Und wenn sie sich immer noch Sorgen um die Sicherheit machen, dann beachten sie bitte, daß auf dem rechten Bild sie vergebens nach sowas wie einem Vorhängeschloß suchen werden. Ohne Schloß kein Schlüsselloch zum Drinrumpopeln. Zu Schade aber auch, und es tut mir ja sooo leid.

So without a lock around there is nothing for practicing your
lock-picking skills. It is a real pity, and I'm awfully sorry about this.

Das rechts sieht schon mal vielversprechend aus,
mechanisch solide ist das durchaus. Aber bei zappeligen Fingern
haben die Knoten keine wirkliche Langzeitchance.
Wegen des losen Kettengliedes sollte man schon was unternehmen.

besser aus, die Handgelenke sind bereit für gemeinsame Unternehmungen.
Aber die Orientierung der Kettenknoten ist nicht gut,
falls die Kette frei hängen sollte. Links ist das besser gelöst.

the wrists still may stroll around together.
But note that the orientation of the knots is not ideal for this
situation where the chain is dangling freely. Look left for a moment
to glance at a better solution.

points upwards, and that is the preferred direction to excert any force.
Now when doing the next step the knots are definitively ok, even need to
be done this way.

Fassen wir zusammen. Wir haben bislang zwei Ketten verwendet, was auch für ein schmales Budget zu machen sein sollte. Mit den Knoten knotet man Schlaufen, welche sich unter Last nicht enger zusammenziehen, und welche nicht weiter werden, ohne den Knoten vorher aufzuknoten. Weiters bleiben die Handgelenke schön beisammen und schließlich haben wir einen Weg aufgetan, der Gravitationskraft entgegenzuwirken, welche gnadenlos versucht, die Handgelenke zu Boden zu bringen. Und all dies ist solide und brauchbar komfortabel.
Let us summarize our achievement.
Two chains have been used so far which should not blow your budget.
The knot allows for loops which do not get smaller when pulled on them
and cannot get larger without undoing the knot. You keep your wrists together
and in the end you have found a way of counteracting the force of gravity
which without mercy tries to pull your wrists to the floor.
And all this being sturdy and reasonably comfortable to wear.
